Bridge of Sighs
pictures, photos, facts and information on Bridge of Sighs (Oxford)

Bridge of Sighs on the New College Lane is one of Oxford most photographed buildings. It was built between two sections of Hertford College. It was designed by Sir Thomas Jackson and finished in 1913, despite the vehement disagreement of New College. It is referred as the “Bridge of Sighs” according to its similarity with bridge of this name in Venice, although, it never indented to be its replica. Actually, it looks more like Venetian Rialto Bridge.
