Dalaman is a Turkish town lying in the Aegean Region in the province of Mugla. It is located between the sea and mountains. It is an important town because there is an airport where most of the tourists land when going on holiday to other close holiday resorts such as Marmaris, Fethiye, Köyceğiz, Dalyan, Ölüdeniz and Hisarönü. However, it is slowly becoming destination itself, rather than only the gateway for tourists. It benefits from its proximity to many areas of interest both historical and geographic. Dalaman is being developed in the harmony with nature, mostly because of the protection of loggerhead turtles that are frequent here.

Dalaman is also the location of one of the Turkey’s biggest open prisons (less dangerous prisoners are kept here while being on their rehabilitation program) and a state fruit farm. “Alexandria train station” built here by mistake serves as the headquarters of the farm now. (The material for the construction of the train station in Alexandria was misdirected and ended up in Dalaman in 1905).

Dalaman is now an interesting investment area for many Europeans purchasing property for investment in Turkey. There are many shops, restaurants, bars and tea gardens in the town. Dalaman has its own huge natural beach, that is not very commercial yet and therefore it is still full of wildlife.

Tourists in this area are advised to visit the Dalyan, the Kaunos archeologist site and to see the carved tombs in the Limestone mountain while crusing along the Dalyan river. Along the shore there is the Iztuzu Beach, the world's 6th most famous beach.
