17 State Street is one of the New York City’s skyscrapers. It is located in the Financial District of Manhattan, bordering two streets Pearl Street and State Street.
17 State Street is a 41-floor building, 542 feet (165 metres) tall building. It was designed by the company Emery Roth and Sons in late-modernist style and the construction was finished in 1988. It is situated on 0.53 acres large area, on the site where the Seamen’s Church Institute Building once stood. It is famous mostly for its shape (quarter of circle) – for its distinct curved façade. Materials used for the construction were steel and glass. Besides larger sidewalk, there are also 13 trees in front of the 17 State Street and plaza in the back.
An Urban archeology museum – New York Unearthed is located on the bottom floors of the 17 State Street building. There are approximately two million artifacts from local excavation sites.
